Boxing Day 2009

Little Egypt Maintain The Tradition

dance at The Angel

and involve the crowd (again)

26 December 2009

How delicate, how refined

After a few more dances it was time for the finale, Fanny Frail. As usual comely maidens were drawn from the crowd to join in with this most gentle and refined of dances and the expressions on their faces reflect its delicacy.

Such a quaint tradition  Get off, I only come for this bit

As always in a Little Egypt extravaganza, so much is owed to the gallant and valiant group of musicians who struggle, often gaainst terrifying odds, to keep the men in time. We salute you!

They'll catch up eventually  Worship at the shrine of Tommo the Rock-God

As the Mummers actors disappeared to costume and makeup, the Glemsford Flamenco Dancers entertained the audience. Then it was all into the pub for a quick warm up before the Mummers Play 2009 - full details on this page.

The day concluded with a(nother) special appearance of Dame Vera Lynn and a song or two from the Tommettes, pictorial evidenc is available here.

All in all another great Boxing Day with the Morris.
