Little Egypt: The Second CrusadeDay, the Fourth, in which our heroes find new ways of staining their Morris Whites |

The final day of the Crusade was, like the other three, kaleidoscopic in its experiences, as well as in the nature of the challenges it posed for Persil and Daz. Sunday 15 June
A return to a favourite haunt featured in our previous visit to the South of france - Le Relais du Pays de Sault, aka "the Duck Restaurant", in Espezel. Since it was a Sunday the place was packed and we thought the host may not have had time to encourage us to have a go at his very special form of wine tasting which starts its passage to the mouth from the forehead. No chance. As the restaurant emptied a gleam came into his eye and yes, many items of clothing ended up stained a delicate shade of red, white and rosé. ![]() The evening was spent chez Plod at the Domaine St George where "foaming jugs of wine in various colours" were waiting to refresh us. Many of John and Maureen's friends were invited to witness some fine dancing, followed by a delightful going ahead session in which several guests took part. A fitting climax to "Little Egypt in the Aude 2008", an event that depended so much on the hard work of John and Maureen, the organisers on this side of the Channel, and the goodwill of our many friends in a wonderful corner of Europe. Our sincere thanks to you all.. |
