Little Egypt On Tour: Norfolk 2007

- in which we relive previous aquatic adventures -
- but without that sinking feeling -

Sunday 3rd June and it was another glorious sunny day as we arrived at the boatyard in Wroxham.

Concealing tankards and hard liquor we slipped on our lifejackets and headed for the three day boats which were ours for the next six hours.

Captains Parry, Leopold and Fleming were given instruction on the operation of the maritime equipment and then we were off, heading in flotilla formation for our first port of call, the New Inn at Horning.

The journey was not without incident.

Captain Fleming decided that he would like his crew to get to the bar first so had made some daring manouvres at 3 mph to cut up Captain Parry and beat him to the pontoon.

Captain Leopold acted in the finest seafaring tradition by maintaining her position in the flotilla and thus tying up last.

The final light - or not so light - lunch was ordered, Adnams and Wherry were consumed and dancing was done.

Suddenly it was time to move on to our final pub of the weekend, The Ferry Inn.

A large lunchtime crowd seemed to enjoy our dancing, although one table did leave rather briskly as soon as we started. The local Heron seemed hypnotised by it all.

The voyage back to Wroxham was one of relaxation and reflection, apart from stopping for the "Mr Whippy" boat and 99s all round.

Then it was all over.

Mr Cleverdon opened the champagne, we returned our lifejackets and made our way out of the boatyard for the journey home.

Another c**p weekend with the Morris!

I'm in charge. Which way's the sharp end?
We'll have to wait a bit while the iceberg passes No problem: this thing'll ride a weir easy ...

Give way I say, give way Sail before steam, me hearties
It's ok, we'll soon clear some table space for lunch Don't look now but I think Huck Finn's just landed
Well, I'm full English, does that count? Make mine a Mivvy
Pardon? I'm a bit hard of heron I got this one past security
Let me know when you're ready to sail - I'll get this clip sorted by then
