Part, the First

The Planning

Before Neville's email of 22 July, an awful lot of planning
had obviously gone into this,
another example of the annual Jolly to Southwold.

So when that email arrived, the Men of Little Egypt were already full of excited anticipation:

Yes Folks - it`s that time of year again
when we all leave the dark side of Suffolk
and head East for a
FUN FILLED FROLLICK of JOYOUS JOLLITY
packed with SUN, SEA, SAND and SORDID SHINNANIGANS
all helped along with the
FINEST OF FISHY FARE
and washed down with
BUCKETS OF BRIGHT AND BUBBLING BEER.
Oh! Yes, and this will all be supplemented
with frequent bouts of
MELODIOUS MUSIC
and
DYNAMIQUE and DELIGHTFUL DANCING.

    OUTBOUND (All filled with eager anticipation)

  • Ist Pick up - Sudbury Ballingdon Bridge (the Barratts) - 8.30
  • Long Melford - Cock and Bell - 8.45
  • Glemsford Skates Hill - 8.55
  • Glemsford Long Pastures - 9.00
  • Glemsford Black Lion - 9.05
  • Glemsford Horsehair Factory - 9.10
  • Stanstead - 9.15
  • Bury St Edmunds Eastgate Street - 9.35
  • Hepworth cum Jukes - 10.00

    Arrive SOUTHWOLD - 11.15/11.30

  • SOLE BAY INN - 11.30 to 12.15 (You must sample the Adnams Bitter)
  • RED LION - 12.30 to 1.30 (Be sure to drink some Adnams Broadside)
  • HARBOUR INN for Fish & Chip Lunch - 1.45 to 2.45
    (Strongly suggest you top up fluid levels with Beer - why not quaff an Adnams Explorer)
  • SOUTHWOLD MARKET PLACE - 3.15 to 4.00 (May have to be tea here !)
  • AT LEISURE to visit the Pier or perhaps The Nelson.
    Rounders or similar could be arrranged on the Green or Beach

    THE RETURN (All filled with Beer and Glee)

    Depart Southwold 6.00 p.m. PROMPT !

    - Pick Up Point Will Be Advised On The Day.
  • We will be stopping on the way home at THE DOLPHIN pub in WORTHAM
    for Sandwiches and (yes) more BEER)
  • Arrive back in Bury by 9.45/Glemsford by 10.10/Sudbury by 10.30

With such planning an immaculate attention to detail, only the very best of days was to be expected.
